How To Deep Clean Your Kitchen In Less Time Than You Think
It’s truth time ladies, if you’re anything like me, you’d much rather be laying on the beach somewhere right about now sipping on a pina colada with your nose in a good book, and soaking up the sun than to be bothered by the thought of cleaning your kitchen, yet again.
Oh, that’s right, you do that anyway, after every meal that your loving family consumes at home, right?
Because as mom & wife you wear all the hats and do all the things, and you do it well!
That is why you are MOM. 😉
So why in the world would you ever want to do that again?!
Because Spring cleaning your kitchen makes you feel better inside and out.
You get in a great work out session and you’ve got a semi-brand new looking kitchen to boot.
Let’s get started shall we?
-
The Kitchen AKA the Central Hub:
-
The Sink-
- Empty out the dishes and load the dishwasher up for a wash cycle or put away the clean dishes.
- If you have a garbage disposal, pour in ½ cup baking soda & let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Then, pour 1 cup of ice, and 1 cup of vinegar down your sink and turn it on to pulverize.
- This will clean your drain lines & sharpen your blades at the same time.
2. The Stove, Oven, & Microwave-
- In a medium microwave-safe bowl, pour in 1/2 cup water & 1/2 cup of vinegar and cook on 1 minute to loosen the stains inside.
- Wipe up the inside of the microwave with a paper towel.
- Next, let’s spray down the entire insides of your oven with oven cleaner and let it sit for about 10 minutes to loosen up the grime before scrubbing it out and wipe it down well.
- While you’re waiting, clean the stove and backsplash with your all-purpose cleaner.
- Got a screwdriver?
- You’ll need it to undo the screws that are attached to the glass that’s in between the inside and outside of your oven.
- Spray it with glass cleaner and wipe with a clean paper towel.
-
Surfaces-
- Wipe down all surfaces from top to bottom starting at the top with dusting the ceiling then on to the light fixtures, cabinets, and lastly, the floor.
- After a quick spray of all-purpose cleaner, be sure to wipe down the often neglected tops of our cabinets too.
- Let’s not forget the chairs too.
- And while you’re cleaning up the floors anyway, let’s move the fridge out and give that a good wipe mopping too.
-
The Pantry & Cabinets
- Now let’s tackle the pantry and the cabinets, and empty out everything onto your countertop and give it a good wipe down.
- Clean all of the nooks and crannies that you’ve neglected for months and really get in there.
- Be ruthless with it, toss out expired foods, and make 2 piles for each shelf.
- Sort your 2 piles by type and expiration date.
- Are there any dishes, silverware are appliances that you no longer use? If so, it’s time to get rid of it and donate it so you can free up space in your kitchen.
- You can use your handy dandy free printable Pantry Inventory List to help you keep track of everything inside your pantry and keep it organized by sticking it on the inside of your pantry door.
-
The Fridge & Freezer
- Now let’s give the fridge and the freezer some love too!
- Empty everything out of the fridge & freezer and toss out the rest of your expired foods.
- Sort your 2 piles by type and expiration date.
- You can use your handy dandy free printable Pantry Inventory List to help you keep track of everything inside your pantry and keep it organized by sticking it on the inside of your pantry door.
- Now place the food that you will be eating back inside your fridge and freezer making sure to label each item with the description and expiration date or best by date.
- Last, if you have a dining room that is separate from your kitchen, you will be giving that a good deep clean too.
Alright girlfriend, great job deep cleaning our kitchens today! 🙂
Doesn’t that just make you want to jump for joy!
Not only did you get in a great workout, but you also reclaimed your domain all by yourself without help from anyone else!
